Websites
These general websites can direct the reader to enormous resources on the Northwest Campaign.
Library and Archives Canada's site leads to AMICUS, the catalogue of its collections, which can be searched on-line, free of charge. "AMICUS" also provides locations for material in libraries throughout Canada. Clients must register to obtain username and password. Subject terms of use when searching the catalogues of Library and Archives Canada and other libraries include:
- Riel Rebellion, 1885
- Riel, Louis
- Métis
- Northwest, Canadian - History - 1870-1905
- Canada - History - 1867-1914
The Library and Archives Canada's site also leads to ArchiviaNet, through which many of the archival records, particularly official government records, may be searched by descriptive keywords. Such a search is a good starting point for the holdings of Library and Archives Canada, but should certainly not be regarded as complete.
Canadian War Museum
www.warmuseum.ca/cwm/cwme.asp
- This website directs the user both to the Museum's excellent library resources on the Campaign and to the war art collections. It is intended that the most complete list of fatal casualties of the 1885 Campaign will be posted on this site.
Directorate of History and Heritage

- This site is less useful at present, but is growing. It includes a list of all Directorate publications, a number of which are relevant to the Northwest Campaign.
