Manitoba's Tire Stewardship Program
Notice of Public Consultation
Manitoba is planning to strengthen its tire stewardship program
with a new Tire Stewardship Regulation under The Waste Reduction
and Prevention (WRAP) Act. This new regulation is based on the
principles of extended producer responsibility. It will require the
tire industry to develop a plan to manage all scrap tires in the
province. At a later date, public comments will be sought on the
industry plan.
The Draft Tire Stewardship Regulation
and Draft
Stewardship Regulation Guidelines for Industry Stewards are
available for review and comment. These documents specify the
obligations and expectations for persons and businesses that sell or
use tires in Manitoba.
Printed copies of the draft regulation and
draft guide for industry stewards are also available at Manitoba
Conservation’s public registries located at libraries throughout the
province.
