The Military and Society

Regional identity, ethnicity and compulsory military service are three of the social concerns which have been studied over the whole gamut of Canadian military history. The role of women in the Canadian Armed Forces and in Canadian society in wartime is noted in a separate section because of the many works devoted to the subject.
