Good Mental Health

Over the past 20 years, the modern military has faced many new and difficult challenges, including an increased operational tempo and the war on terrorism. For some members of the Canadian Forces, experiences overseas and at home have left troubling emotional scars that put their mental well-being at risk.

Veterans and still-serving CF members who suffer from various operational stress injuries (OSI), including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), need special assessment and treatment. This is why Veterans Affairs Canada and the Department of National Defence launched a national Mental Health Initiative in 2002. Since then, much progress has been made.

In this issue of Salute!, we'd like to share with you some of the most recent advances that are designed to give clients better access to the professional help they need.
