Veterans Affairs Canada: Proudly Serving Canada's Veteran Community
  Vol 3, No.1

Welcome Aboard

Welcome Aboard In April, Veterans Affairs Canada welcomed a new Deputy Minister, Mr. Jack Stagg. As the son of two veterans of the Second World War, our new Deputy Minister has a deep appreciation for the Government of Canada's long-standing promise to take care of those who have taken care of us.

Welcome Aboard

"I grew up on a Veterans' Land Act settlement and the Department of Veterans Affairs, as we called it then, helped our family to survive and prosper. In fact," he laughed, "when I told my mother I'd be coming to Veterans Affairs, she was absolutely delighted."

Mr. Stagg replaces Mr. Larry Murray, who joined Veterans Affairs Canada in 1999 and has now been appointed Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. While at Veterans Affairs Canada, Mr. Murray, a former Vice-Admiral with the Canadian Navy, would often extend a personal "Bravo Zulu" for a job well done in the service of veterans. Well, Mr. Murray, now it's our turn to say Bravo Zulu to you!
