Korean War Armistice
In March, Veterans Affairs Canada launched a year-long commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice. To mark the occasion, a beautiful stained glass window (right) was unveiled at Deer Lodge Centre, a Manitoba long-term care facility that is home to more than 150 veterans.
In April, Minister Pagtakhan also unveiled a new commemorative pin called Canada Remembers the Korean War. The Minister presented the first pin to David Davidson, National President of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada.
These events are the first of many planned throughout 2003 to pay tribute to Canadians who served in Korea between 1950 and 1953. For more information on the Korean War and commemorative events, please visit our Web site at www.vac-acc.gc.ca.
