Battle of the Atlantic
2003 marks the 60th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic. This was the longest running battle of the Second World War and the only one which took place close to North American shores.
Tragically, one out of every eight people who participated in the Battle of the Atlantic was either killed or wounded. This was the highest casualty rate suffered by any of Canada's fighting services during the Second World War.
