Veterans Affairs Canada: Proudly Serving Canada's Veteran Community

Vol.1, No.1
Issue #1, Autumn 2001

IN THE SERVICE OF PEACE

Each year, Veterans Affairs Canada produces a poster to commemorate the men and women who, in serving their country, put their lives on the line so that others may live in peace. This year's poster promotes the theme of Veterans' Week 2001 In the Service of Peace which honours Canada's military, peacekeeping and humanitarian contributions over many decades to help secure and maintain global peace. The poster was unveiled October 17 in Ottawa by the Honourable Ron J. Duhamel, Minister of Veterans Affairs. During Veterans' Week, it remained prominently in view facing the National War Memorial. More than 45,000 posters were distributed to schools and communities, reminding Canadians that veterans' sacrifices and achievements must never be forgotten.
