SURFING THE WEB FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS INFORMATION
Teaching veterans and other seniors how to access the Internet for health and wellness information is the focus of a new partnership between VAC, the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) and Industry Canada.
Earlier this year, we worked with our two partners to install Community Access Program (CAP) sites at 44 RCL Branches in seven provinces. CAP is a federal program administered by Industry Canada to provide Canadians with greater public access to the Internet.
Now, VAC is partnering with the Legion and community groups to deliver health promotion and education programs at selected RCL Branches. During this eight-week program, veterans and other seniors will be taught how to surf the net to find information on health matters of interest to them. Each week, local community health professionals also will be on hand to discuss topics such as caregiving, falls prevention and mental health.
