Isabelle Germain, DtP, Msc

Isabelle Germain, DtP, Msc

Isabelle Germain graduated from the Université de Montréal in 1995, with a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics. Upon graduating, she was awarded a scholarship from the Hotel and Restaurant Suppliers Association, as well as the Prix Milupa, for outstanding academic achievement in Geriatrics. In 2000, she obtained her Master's Degree from McGill University. The focus of her Master's work was treating dysphagia in hospitalized seniors using texture modified foods.

Ms. Germain is a familiar face at McGill, as she is a frequent guest speaker at both the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition and at the Faculty of Nursing. She has also authored several articles on nutrition, the elderly and dysphagia - topics that have been at the centre of several of her lectures. In addition, Ms. Germain is involved in various Dietician Associations within Quebec and Canada. She serves as a resource person on various projects aimed at creating procedures and course manuals.

Her work at Ste. Anne's Hospital has led her to take part in developing and putting various texture modified foods on the menu on a cyclical basis, as part of the Hospital's Dysphagia Program. After having implemented this program, the team was recognized and awarded the Quebec Hospital Association Award, in June 1998. In June 2001, they were awarded the Award for Leadership in Service Innovation, by the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada. In 2003, the Dysphagia Committee, to which Ms. Germain belongs, completed the drafting of Ste. Anne's Hospital's Dysphagia Program.
