Finding a Quality Job

Finding a quality job after your time in the military is often the first priority at release. VAC's Job Placement Program uses workshops, career counselling and job-finding assistance to help you find that job.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long do I have to sign up? You have up to two years from your date of release to apply for the program.
  2. Do I have to be injured or be medically-released to take part? No. All honourably-discharged CF Veterans (including certain Reservists), qualify for this program. Go to www.vac-acc.gc.ca for more details.
  3. I already have a job lined up, how can this program help me? You will still likely find the workshops useful, as they include tips on managing your transition to civilian life and managing a civilian career. Should your employment opportunity not work out, you have two years from the date of your release to sign-up for the full program.
  4. Can my spouse take this program? The program is only available to a survivor to help him/her re-establish their family after the death of the Veteran.

Information for medically-released CF Veterans
On December 31, 2005, changes to the priority job appointment process in the federal Public Service came in effect to include medically-released CF members and Veterans.

You can read more about Priority appointment to the public service on the VAC Website.
