QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess several years experience applying accounting principles, auditing, risk management, financial planning, budgeting, and expenditure control. A professional accounting designation is desired, however an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will possess experience interpreting technical accounting and reporting standards for business, non-profit and public sector entities. Strong analytical and conceptual skills for forecasting, problem solving and assessing impacts are essential. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships within a multi-partner, multi-jurisdictional environments are required, as well as the ability to contribute to the development of internal and external financial management systems. Previous experience working with Northern Aboriginal communities is desirable. The ability to travel to Northern communities is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Access) and accounting software is required. Experience using SAP and financial data extraction and analysis tools is considered an asset. Preference will be given to Aboriginal people, visible minorities, and persons with disabilities.

DUTIES:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent is responsible for the financial administration of branch operations and the provincial contribution to the Hydro Northern Training and Employment Initiative (HNTEI). The incumbent administers the compliance requirements of Manitoba’s contribution agreement, including financial and program activity accountabilities. The incumbent works collaboratively within a cross-cultural, multi-partner, broad stakeholder environment to achieve multi-year goals. The incumbent contributes to the development of management, control and accountability procedures for financial management and accountability under the Initiative. Provides analysis, advice, and recommendations to Executive Director for enhancing accountability procedures.
