The Competition Process - What Happens After You Apply
Screening Applicants
Following the closing date, resumes/applications are screened,
and candidates who best meet the qualifications advertised are contacted
to come for an interview.
Selection Panel
The competition process is normally handled by a selection panel,
which most often consists of three or four members. Panels
usually include the supervisor of the position and others, such
as human resource professionals, the manager or director of the
program area, or a technical expert. The selection panel screens
the applicants and conducts the interviews.
Selection of the Successful Candidate
After the interview and other appropriate reviews (e.g. reference
checks) the selection panel selects the most suitable candidate
for the position.
