Employment Opportunities - How to Apply
There are a wide variety of employment opportunities with the Government
of Manitoba. We encourage you to browse the job
opportunities and apply to competitions that you are interested
in, eligible for, and for which you feel qualified.
Canadian citizens as well as persons who are from another country
but are permanent residents can legally work in Manitoba.
It is illegal for an employer to hire foreign workers who are authorized
to work only for some other employer, or who do not have authorization
to work in Canada.
For more information, contact the Federal Department of Immigration
toll free at 1-888-242-2100.
If you have specific questions about an advertisement listed on
this site, please contact the department advertising the competition.
Contact information can be found in the section "Apply In Writing
To" in each advertisement. The department's telephone
number is not provided, but by clicking on our Contact link, you can find the appropriate
department to contact.
If you have trouble using our site, or are experiencing difficulty
accessing our advertisements, please call the Civil Service Commission
at (204) 945-2332 in Winnipeg, or Manitoba toll free 1-800-282-8069,
extension 2332. You may also email: cschrp@gov.mb.ca.
When you apply to a competition, it is helpful to remember
that:
-
The majority of regular (permanent) Government of Manitoba
jobs are advertised on this site. Each department is responsible
for the recruitment of its own positions, therefore, the location
in which to apply will be different for each position.
Each advertisement will describe the necessary qualifications,
duties, where to apply and give a closing date for the competition.
-
A detailed job description for each advertised position is
available at the department where you applied. Obtaining
the job description can help a candidate prepare for an interview
and provide a better understanding of what duties and responsibilities
are expected of the selected candidate.
-
Each competition requires a separate resume and covering letter,
or Civil Service application form, unless specified otherwise.
-
Always quote the competition number on each application.
Ensure that your application includes a telephone number and
complete address where you may be contacted.
-
As a condition of being considered for employment in the public
service, references about past work performance will be obtained
from your current and previous employers.
-
Security checks are required for some positions.
-
Receipt of application confirmation is not provided.
Only those considered for further consideration will be contacted.
-
If you are applying by mail or fax, send your application directly
to the Manitoba Government department advertising the position
by the closing date indicated in the advertisement.
