Environment, Health & Safety

Safety First – Always

Safety is a consideration in everything we do at Yukon Energy. It is something that is part of every decision we make and every action we take. If something cannot be done safely, we do not do it.

Everyone Is Responsible

We believe every Yukon Energy employee at every level is responsible for ensuring workplace health and safety and is accountable for health and safety practices within his or her control.

Everyone Knows the Rules

We ensure that policies, practices, and procedures are clear to our employees, and are consistently applied. Training our people on safe practices and procedures is a responsibility we take very seriously.

We Track Our Performance

Ongoing reviews of how we're doing make us even better. Regular inspections and periodic audits help us identify where we can improve our health and safety practices. We act promptly on those results to ensure continuous improvement.

'Passport to Safety' Program

Yukon Energy is part of a national program aimed at eliminating workplace injuries and deaths among young Canadians. The Passport to Safety Program supports and encourages education, knowledge and workplace-specific safety training for young people. It offers an on-line test to help make teenagers and young adults aware of their rights and responsibilities regarding health and safety, and therefore better prepares them to keep safe while at work.

Yukon Energy promotes this program during the hiring process, and completion of the on-line test is an asset to young people applying for a job at the electrical company.
