CURRENT TRANSPORTATION STUDIES
Nunavut-Manitoba Route Selection Study
A study has been initiated to
determine the best route for a road link between Rankin Inlet and
Manitoba. The study is jointly funded by the governments of Nunavut
and Manitoba and Kivalliq Inuit Association. Nishi-Khon/SNC-Lavalin
has been retained to complete the study.
Three routing options from Rankin
Inlet to connect with Manitoba’s all-weather road system via either
Lynn Lake, Thompson or Gillam are being appraised. The Port of
Churchill will also be connected to the route.
The study includes extensive
community and public consultation and you are invited to contact
members of the study team and/or regularly review study information
and check on future input opportunities via the study website.

Brandon Area Road Network Development Plan
Manitoba Transportation and
Government Services and the City of Brandon are jointly undertaking
the Brandon Area Road Network Development Plan study. The study will
examine transportation requirements for the City of Brandon as well
as for Provincial Highways within the City and surrounding 60 km
area, and provide recommendations on transportation needs for the
next 20 years.
The Province and City selected a
multi-disciplinary consulting team led by ND LEA Engineers &
Planners Inc. to undertake the study. The study is being directed by
a Steering Committee made up of Provincial and City representatives.
Residents of Brandon and the
surrounding area will be asked to assist the study team in a number
of ways throughout the duration of the project. You are welcome to
