Terms & Conditions of EmploymentIn a general sense, terms and conditions of employment describe the leaves, benefits, and salary provisions employees are entitled to. There are a number of employment categories in the Yukon public service, several of which are governed by their own terms and conditions. In this section of the website you will find terms and conditions for the major employment groups as well as the Yukon government pay schedules. For the convenience of YEU and YTA members we have also included links to the websites for each of those organizations. The following is a brief summary of the major employment groups in the Yukon government to help you determine which link is most appropriate for your inquiry. YEU Employees whose terms and conditions of employment are governed by the collective agreement with the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the YEU Collective Agreement, and who are represented by the Yukon Employees Union. Auxiliary employees are also represented by the YEU and covered by this collective agreement. YTA Employees whose terms and conditions of employment are governed by the collective agreement with, and are represented by the Yukon Teachers Association, the YTA Collective Agreement. Casual employees are used in ad hoc situations to provide additional assistance for periods of no more than six months. Casual employees are governed by the GAM Policy 3.7 (PDF 58 KB Contract Employees
Contract employees are used in ad hoc situations when the work requirements are in excess of six months duration, where the work is of a contractual nature which includes an employer-employee relationship, and the employee works a minimum of thirty hours per week.
