Occupational Hygiene Branch:

The Occupational Hygiene Branch provides support services to the Division, employers, workers, and consultants, as follows:

  • consultative occupational hygiene, engineering and ergonomic assistance to clients and internal staff;
  • workplace investigations and specialized reports on hazard and risk control strategies;
  • inspection and evaluation of risks associated with workplaces; enforcement of safe work practices;
  • pre-development review of new projects, installations and processes; and
  • preparation and delivery of specialized technical training programs to both Division staff and clients.
  • participation in the Division’s 24 hour emergency response system.

OSH Engineering & Ergonomics Branch:

The OSH Engineering and Ergonomics Branch provides support services to the Division, employers, workers, and consultants as follows: 

  • consultative engineering and ergonomic assistance to stakeholders, and WSH division staff;
  • provide assistance, and consultation, to Safety and Health officers in the Inspection Services branch respecting improvement orders, reports and case notes relating to Engineering and Ergonomics;
  • initiate and support prevention initiatives in industry primarily through the Safe Work team and the Partnership and Prevention Services branch;
  • provide specialized training to Safety and Health Officers, general Safety and Health Committee Members, and specific industry groups, as required;
  • develop documentation and training to support divisional and client needs relating to the WSH regulations;
  • provide assistance in accident investigation and review prosecution or inquest files;
  • assist in the development and implementation of prevention and enforcement policies;
  • pre-development review of new projects, installation and processes.
