PSEPC is responsible for policy development and advice to the Minister on matters of national security. We are involved in the following initiatives, programs and files:

  • Policy advice and support
PSEPC provides independent advice and support to the Minister on matters of national security.
  • Cross-Cultural Roundtable on Security
A key element of the National Security Policy, the Roundtable helps inform policy-makers about the impact of national security matters on our diverse society.
  • Listed entities
Canada’s Anti-Terrorism Act enables the government to create a list of "entities" under the Criminal Code. This is a very public way to identify a group or individual as being associated with terrorism.
  • Security certificates
A rarely used mechanism for removing a person from the country, security certificates are a way to ensure Canada's immigration laws are not misused by people who pose a threat.
