Responsibilities

The Beaufort Delta is entering into a period of considerable change. Negotiations are currently underway for a Gwich’in and Inuvialuit Self-Government Agreement. This agreement will change the way communities govern themselves, the authorities that community governments possess and the way programs and services are delivered to residents. In addition, resource exploration and the proposed Mackenzie Valley Pipeline will bring new opportunities and resources to the region, with the potential for significant economic growth and development.

Responsible for the direct delivery of MACA programs and services to community governments, the Inuvik Regional Office provides support and advice in the following areas,

  • Capital Planning;
  • Community Planning;
  • Community Financial Advice;
  • Municipal Works and Infrastructure;
  • Fire Prevention Inspection, Building Safety and Fire Education;
  • Land Administration;
  • Sport, Youth & Recreation;
  • Training and Community Development;
  • Emergency Services; and
  • Self-Government Negotiations Support.

MACA’s Inuvik Regional Office will provide support and advice to the Beaufort Delta community governments as they adapt to these changes and take advantage of new opportunities.
