Members of the 15th Assembly
Mr. Pokiak was born on May 28, 1955 in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT and has lived there is entire life. He has previously served as Mayor and Councillor of the Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk, on the Board of Directors to the Tuktoyaktuk Housing Association, on the Board of Directors for the Local Education Authority, and on the Board of Directors for COPE. He has worked as an Assistant Land Administrator for the Inuvialuit Land Administration, as a Social Worker III for Social Services Inuvik Region, as a Northern Liaison Officer for Arctic Transportation Limited. His volunteer experience includes being a Board Member for the Recreation Department in Tuktoyaktuk and as the Chair on the Youth Justice Committee. Mr. Pokiak completed his secondary schooling in Inuvik and then earned his Class IV in Power Engineering in Fort Smith. In his spare time he enjoys playing sports, hunting and fishing.
