Born on November 23, 1961, Mr. Roland received his high school education
at Samuel Hearne Secondary School in Inuvik. After high school Floyd
studied Auto Mechanics at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
in Calgary and Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton
Alberta.
Floyd Kenny Roland was first elected to the Legislative Assembly
on October 16, 1995. He was re-elected on December 6, 1999 to represent
the Inuvik Boot Lake constituency and again on November 4, 2003 to
the 15th Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Roland served on Inuvik's Town Council for three years, including
a term as Deputy Mayor from 1994 to 1995. He was also Chairman of
the Hunters and Trappers Committee from June 1994 to October 1995,
and President of the Western Arctic Tourism Association. Mr. Roland
has been actively involved with hockey in Inuvik both as a minor
league coach and a player himself.
As a member of the 14th Assembly, Mr. Roland served as Chair of
the Governance and Economic Committee and also as Deputy Chair of
Accountability and Oversight.
Mr. Roland's family consists of his wife Shawna, his five sons,
Austin, Justin, Quincey, Samuel, Mitchell and one daughter Courtney.
