House
business consists of all actions and proceedings that take place
in the Legislative Assembly during a sessional day, also known as
a sitting day. These proceedings are listed on each day's agenda,
which is known as the
"Orders of the Day." Such items of business include: statements made
by both Ministers and Regular Members; an oral question period
at which time Ministers are questioned by Regular Members; petitions
and other documents of interest being brought to the attention
of the House; decisions and resolutions of the House in the form of
motions; and perhaps most importantly, the making of laws through
the legislative process of bringing Bills before the House that
propose to amend existing laws, establish new laws or eliminate old, outdated
laws.
