Adacel TM Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular
Pertussis (TdaP) Vaccine
At 14-16 years of age, a booster for TdaP is offered to provide continuing protection throughout the teens and early adulthood. The needle is given in the muscle of the upper arm. A person who is sick with a fever or anything more than a cold, should not receive this needle; it can be delayed until the person is well. The booster provides protection against the following diseases:
Possible Side Effects
Some people have a sore arm for a day or two after the immunization. Some people have headache, fever or decreased energy.
Who Should Not Get This Booster?
Anyone who has the following:

Sick with fever or infection (delay until well).

Allergic reaction (hives; swelling of the face, lips or throat; wheezing; shock; difficulty breathing) to a previous dose of the vaccine.

Allergic reaction (hives; swelling of the face, lips or throat; wheezing; shock; difficulty breathing) to any of the vaccine ingredients.

Pregnancy.
