Material may not be used or reproduced for commercial purposes without the prior written consent arranged by the Department’s Communications Unit.  If it is reproduced or redistributed for non-commercial purposes, The Government of the Northwest Territories copyright is to be acknowledged.

Certain words, phrases, names, designs, images, graphics or logos used on the site may constitute trademarks, service marks or trade names of the Government of the Northwest Territories or other entities.  The display of any such marks or names on the site does not imply that a license has been granted by the Department or the Government of the Northwest Territories.

Privacy Statement

The Department is committed to respecting the privacy of people who visit its website.  Therefore, the Department does not automatically gather personal information like name, phone number or email address.  This information can only be obtained when the individual gives it through email or by entering this information in the feedback form (found on the Contact Us page).

All personal information created, held or collected by the Department is protected by the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  This means that at any point of collection you will be asked for consent to collect your information or be advised of the authority for such collection.  You will be informed of the purpose for which it is being collected and how to exercise your right of access to that information.

The Department uses software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or manipulate information, or otherwise cause damage.  This software automatically collects the following information:

  • Internet Protocol Address (a unique number that identifies to a specific machine that is attached to the Internet);

  • date and time of the visit;

  •  pages and files visited/downloaded; and

  •  type of operating system and browser used to access the site.

The Department makes no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of the individuals visiting its website, unless an attempt to damage the website has been detected.  The collected information may be used to improve web content and security.

The Department does not use “cookies”.  A cookie is a piece (or pieces) of information that is stored as text strings (i.e. ID=15361959) on your computer by a website.  Websites tend to use cookies to help identify users in order to prepare customized web pages for them.  Usually, cookies are stored on your computer without your knowledge.

The Department’s website may include links to websites operated by other government agencies, non-profit organizations and private businesses.  This privacy statement does not apply to these websites.  However, you maybe subject to the privacy policy of that site, if it does have one.  The Department is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

Visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except Department personnel who need the information to carry out responsibilities of their job.  Any further disclosure of the personal information given to the Department by email (or submitted through the feedback form) will be subject to the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act
