Celebrating a New Name:
Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut
Effective January 1, 2004 the Northwest Territories
Registered Nurses Association (NWTRNA) changed its name to "Registered Nurses
Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut", RNANT/NU, under
new legislation.
The Northwest Territories Nursing Profession Act, Bill 12
(2003) and the Act to Amend the Nunavut Nursing Profession Act, Bill 41 (2003)
were both proclaimed (came into force) on January 1, 2004. The legislation
provides:
Continuation of
Association
6. |
(1) |
The Northwest
Territories Registered Nurses Association is continued as a
corporation called Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest
Territories and Nunavut. |
|
(2) |
The
Association has the capacity and, subject to this Act, the rights,
powers and privileges of a natural person. |
|
For more information, and to read the new
Acts, click on Legislation.
The Association has had regulatory
responsibility nurses in both NWT and Nunavut, dating back before division of
the two territories, however the name was not adjusted at that time. We are
delighted that finally our name will reflect our membership in two territories
as we move into the future.
-
Please note the
name change on all of your documentation.
-
Please note
website and email address changes.
-
The postal address
remains unchanged.
-
The Board of
Directors and business functions of the Association are unchanged. All contracts
signed under the NWTRNA name will remain valid under the new name, and will be
honoured by the Association under the RNANT/NU name.
