Business Agent, Directors Guild of Canada

 

Based in Halifax , the Directors Guild of Canada- Atlantic Regional Council (DGC-ARC) is part of a National labour organization, representing key creative and logistical personnel behind the camera, in the motion picture industry.

The DGC-ARC is currently seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to fill the role of Business Agent for the organization.

The Business Agent is the senior staff person in the Atlantic Region. Reporting directly to the Executive Board, the Business Agent is primarily responsible for:

  • Labour Relations functions on behalf of the membership

  • Effective management of the DGC-ARC office and staff

  • Industry advocacy at both the Regional and National level

The successful candidate should ideally have:

  • Experience in Labour Relations (i.e. collective bargaining, grievance and arbitrations, contract interpretation and administration).

  • Progressively senior experience in office management, including supervision of staff and fiscal management.

  • Ability to build relationships, and make sound independent judgments.

  • A passion for providing excellent service in a fast paced, multi-function environment
