Focusing on Careers
|
We employ Biologists, Foresters, Fish and Wildlife Officers, Meteorologists, Agrologists, Forest Officers, Technologists, Policy Analysts and many others.
The work is as varied as the Alberta resources they manage -
Each area of our ministry offers a challenge and the satisfaction of protecting and sustaining Alberta's natural resources.
A series of postcards called "Just Another Day at the Office" features our employees in their current roles across the ministry. They describe the work they do in their own words, and their enthusiasm shines through.
Reaching Prospective Employees
Alberta Sustainable Resource Development actively works at telling prospective employees about great career opportunities we have in our ministry. We have attended career fairs across the province in larger centers like Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Calgary as well as in smaller locations such as Cold Lake, Peace River and Vermilion.
Look for our display booth at career fairs and regional meetings. Our eye-catching photos draw people in who ask, "Is this really the Alberta Government - what does your department do?"
Visit our career website - www.srd.gov.ab.ca/careers - where we profile 17 professions within Sustainable Resource Development, and provide descriptions of different types of jobs available within our ministry.
Job postings for Sustainable Resource Development are found on the cross-government PAO jobs website - www.pao.gov.ab.ca - most of our salaried jobs can be found in the "Natural Sciences/Agriculture" category and our summer and temporary jobs in the "Seasonal" category.
As we tell people who ask for information on our Ministry, a career with Sustainable Resource Development is very rewarding and satisfying. Working with Alberta's valuable natural resources is more than just a job - it's a lifestyle.
