This mailing is part of a proactive initiative to ensure that eligible voters across the country are registered to vote in federal elections. It is also a major step in Elections Canada's ongoing commitment to deal with the decline in voter turnout, particularly among youth. This
general election, Elections Canada is sending a "Leave Your Mark" card
to some 170,000 young people who have been newly identified as potential
electors since the June 2004 federal election, and to those who have
not responded to previous youth mailings, to remind them that, if they
are Canadian, they have the right to vote. Eligible individuals are encouraged
to register locally to vote, or to visit www.elections.ca for additional
details on the electoral process.
