The Corporation
Created in 1990 under the Film Development Corporation Act,
the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation (NSFDC) is a Provincial
Crown Corporation reporting to the Minister of Economic Development.
A Board of Directors, appointed by the Governor in Council, directs
the Corporation's activities.
The primary mandate of the Corporation is to:
Grow Nova Scotia's film, television, and new media industries
with our partners by stimulating investment and employment and
by promoting Nova Scotia's producers, productions, locations,
skills and creativity in global markets.
The Corporation's core business activities include:
Program Administration
The Programs Department administers Loan, Investment, Partnerships
in Training, Travel Assistance and Sponsorship programs designed
to support the growth and development of Nova Scotia's film
& television industry.
Locations & Marketing
The Locations & Marketing Department promotes the province as
a film location in the global marketplace and provides initial
production support to producers who are guests in the province.
The Department fulfills a community liaison role for the industry
and general public and coordinates the Corporation's communication
activities.
Tax Credit
The Finance Department administers the Nova Scotia Film Industry
Tax Credit, as well as overseeing the financial administration
of the NSFDC.
