The headlands and cliffs of Cape Breton Highland tower over the rich, natural heritage that is all around. Home to the famous Cabot Trail, the land is blessed with spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife and a human history that stretches back to the last Ice Age. The park offers many accessible treasures and experiences remarkable in their diversity, beauty, and wonder.

This skull reminds us that woodland caribou once lived in Cape Breton. Luckily caribou still live in other parts of the world. For an increasing number of species worldwide, bones are all we have left.

There are currently 39 national parks and national park reserves in Canada, located in every province and territory. They include areas on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, throughout the interior mountains, plains, Shield Lakes, the Great Lakes, and as far north and south as Canada goes.
