Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Submits Report
on Federal By-election in 2005

OTTAWA, Wednesday, April 5, 2006 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean‑Pierre Kingsley, submitted his report on the only by-election held in 2005 – on May 24, 2005, in the electoral district of Labrador – to the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Peter Milliken.

Under subsection 534(2) of the Canada Elections Act, the Chief Electoral Officer must make a report to the Speaker within 90 days after the end of a year in which there have been one or more by-elections.

The text of the report, the official voting results, and the contributions and expenses reported by candidates in the by-election are available at www.elections.ca.
