General Election Poll-by-Poll Data Now Available

OTTAWA, Monday, March 13, 2006 — The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Jean‑Pierre Kingsley, announced today that Elections Canada has posted temporary poll-by-poll results for the 39th general election on Elections Canada’s Web site at www.elections.ca.

The data reflect the validation carried out by returning officers and the judicial recounts conducted in two ridings. They do not include the number of electors on the lists, since this has yet to be finalized. The results are available in two formats: the first, a raw data set suitable for statistical analysis and the second, a Portable Document Format (PDF), which is more readable.

Elections Canada publishes a number of reports and documents following every general election, including the Chief Electoral Officer’s report on the administration of the election, the official voting results and the final lists of electors.

Elections Canada will post the final official voting results, including statistical tables and
poll-by-poll results by candidate and by electoral district, when they are finalized.

Elections Canada is an independent body set up by Parliament.
