Deadline Approaching for Revision of Lists of Electors
for November 27, 2006, Federal By-elections

OTTAWA, Thursday, November 16, 2006 — The period for making changes to the lists of electors for the federal by-elections in Repentigny (Quebec) and London North Centre (Ontario) on Monday, November 27, 2006, is drawing to a close. An elector who wants to add his or her name to the lists, or to make corrections to name or address information, should contact the office of the returning officer in his or her electoral district before 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday, November 21, 2006.

"To ensure that their names are on the list of electors, I encourage electors in Repentigny and London North Centre who have not received a voter information card or require changes to the information on the card to call their returning officer before next Tuesday, November 21," suggested Jean-Pierre Kingsley, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. "It will save them time on election day."

After the revision period ends at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, the returning officer in each electoral district will prepare the official lists of electors. These lists cannot be revised again before election day.

Electors registering on election day must provide official documents that include their name, address and signature, or take the prescribed oath and be vouched for under oath by another elector whose name already appears on the list of electors in the same polling division.

For further information, electors may contact the office of the returning officer in their electoral district or visit www.elections.ca.

By-elections will be held in Repentigny and London North Centre on Monday, November 27, 2006.
