Nictaux Soil The photo on the left was donated by Emery Peters from the collection of Dr. D. B. Cann. It is a classic podzol profile from the Nictaux Series soils developed in glacial outwash sand and gravel deposits. Dr. Cann mapped surficial deposits and soils over much of Nova Scotia and produced comprehensive soil series maps and reports. These are an invaluable source of information on surficial deposits and soils. Check the Soil Landscapes of Canada web site for a more complete description of soils and references to Dr. Cann's publications.
