MLA - Lunenburg Minister of Finance Minister of Aboriginal Affairs Minister responsible for Part I of the Gaming Control Act  Minster responsible for the Securities Act Government House Leader Minister responsible for the Insurance Act  MLA for Lunenburg •Birth: January 28, 1957 in Lunenburg •Education: Graduated from Dalhousie Law School (1980) •Employment: Practised law at Hennigar Wells Lamey & Baker in Mahone Bay and Chester;  Acted as the Mahone Bay town solicitor; past president of Lunenburg Co. Barristers Association, and a former member of NS Barristers Society Council;  Former director of Marine Atlantic, and appointed  Queen's Counsel in 1999. •Political Career: Mike was first elected to the House of Assembly on March  24, 1998, and re-elected in July 1999 and August 2003. Cabinet duties have included Minister of Transportation and Public Works and Justice. Re-appointed as Minister of Finance, February 2006. •Community Involvement: Former member on the board of directors of Family and Children Services of Lunenburg County and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal; former vice-chair of the South Shore Residential Tenancies Board and the Lunenburg County Regional Housing Authority;  past president of the Lunenburg Academy Foundation; former chair  of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. •Family: lives with his wife Cynthia (nee Corkum) and two sons in  Lunenburg.
