Lower Sackville Access Centre Still in Works

The province is actively looking for a location for an Access Nova Scotia centre in Lower Sackville.

Jamie Muir, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, made the commitment today, Nov. 16, after a Community Services' announcement that a new residential support program will be housed in the former Cobequid Multi-Service Centre, a proposed location of a Lower Sackville Access centre.

"Last spring, we were considering the Cobequid Centre in Lower Sackville," said Mr. Muir. "After investigating the centre, we've found that this location did not adequately address our needs. Some of our concerns included the lack of sidewalks, no bus service to the centre, and there was not enough space for parking, testing truck drivers and for future growth."

Mr. Muir added that the Department of Community Services was also interested in the Cobequid Centre for residential use for people with disabilities.

"I want to assure everyone in Lower Sackville that we are still committed to an Access centre in their community," said Mr. Muir.
