Sport Development

Nova Scotia Sport Plan

Nova Scotia Health Promotion is leading the development of a Nova Scotia Sport Plan as part of our commitment and contribution to the Canadian Sport Policy.

Canada Games

Supports Team Nova Scotia's development and participation at the Canada Games - a national multi-sport competition between the 10 provinces and three territories.

Coaching Development

Coordinates and delivers the 3M NCCP theory coach certification program.

Funding

Nova Scotia Health Promotion provides funding to Sport Nova Scotia as the sport federation, and for the operation of the Sport and Recreation Administration Centre. Funding is also provided to:

Hosting

Provides financial assistance to organizations hosting national meetings or competitions.

Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs)

Eligible provincial sport groups are provided with funding to offer programs and services.

Special Initiatives

Provides material and human support for initiatives, such as the Canadian Sport Centre - Atlantic Region, and the prevention of abuse and harassment.

Elite Athlete Assistance Program

The Elite Athlete Assistance Program provides financial assistance to eligible non carded Nova Scotian elite athletes towards training and competition costs.

Guidance, education and access to resources to encourage fair and safe play in all areas of sport and recreation.
