Healthy Eating

Recent reports show that Nova Scotians are the second most obese in the country, and childhood obesity is a growing problem. Nova Scotia Health Promotion will work closely with the Department of Education, school boards, schools and many other partners to develop provincial school food and nutrition policy. This will include guidelines to provide
healthier choices in vending machines and on the menus, and give parents the tools they need to feed their children a balanced diet.

Nova Scotia Health Promotion is also working with many partners to encourage breastfeeding, to explore ways to help low income Nova Scotians access nutritious foods, and to put in place a provincial healthy eating strategy.
