Record Canadian presence at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
Montreal, June 20, 2005 - Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce that Canada
will be prominent at the 40th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with a
record-breaking 16 films. Among the highlights, Sébastien Rose's La
Vie avec mon père is in competition as part of the Official Selection;
Atom Egoyan's Where the Truth Lies has been selected for the Horizons
screenings; Ruba Nadda is sitting on the international jury; Gary Burns is spotlighted
with a retrospective in the Forum of Independents, and for the first time
the Festival is featuring a Focus on Canadian Films.
Karlovy Vary, an IFFPA (International Federation of Film Producers Associations)
Category 'A' festival, is an important stop on the international events calendar.
The 2005 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival takes place from July 1 to
9, 2005.
"We expect that Karlovy Vary will be rewarding for Canadian creators and
companies both in terms of visibility, as well as business and strategic opportunities,"
said Danny Chalifour, Telefilm's Director of International Operations and Development.
"With this unprecedented showing, the Canadian delegation has a tremendous
chance to win over new audiences and contribute to promoting Canadian culture

Canada front and centre at Karlovy Vary on July 5, 2005
July 5, 2005 is shaping up to be an important date for the Canadian delegation
at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
In addition to the gala competition screening of La Vie avec mon père,
a reception, organized by Telefilm Canada and the Canadian Embassy in Prague,
will celebrate the Canadian talent at Karlovy Vary (by invitation only), and
a networking event, organized by the Festival's Film Industry Office, will bring
together Canadian representatives and international players.
Showcasing Canadian talent
Telefilm Canada is proud of its partnership with the Karlovy Vary International
Film Festival, and their commitment to feature the energetic vision of Canadian
filmmakers on such a prestigious platform. Telefilm also thanks its partners
