Telefilm Canada is delighted by its new partnership with the Canadian Television Fund and the $100-million renewal for Canadian television

Montreal, June 14, 2005 - Telefilm Canada considers that the announcements regarding the new partnership with the Canadian Television Fund (CTF) and the renewed funding of $100 million for television, made at Banff by the Minister of Canadian Heritage Liza Frulla, constitute a mark of confidence in the Crown Corporation and the CTF.

Telefilm Canada is embarking on this partnership with great enthusiasm. Under the terms of the partnership, the Board of the Canadian Television Fund will be responsible for governance of all programs. Telefilm Canada will be responsible for the administration and the delivery of the CTF programs.

"The new structure will foster greater integration of public and private expertise, and allow the strengths of each sector to better complement one another," said Wayne Clarkson, Executive Director of Telefilm Canada. "It will make it possible to provide services to clients in all regions of the country, and will generate savings that translate into substantial additional support for the television industry. Furthermore, the $100-million renewal is excellent news because it ensures that we will be able to work with a greater sense of continuity and stability."

Committees, representing the Canadian Television Fund and Telefilm Canada, will be put in place so that the new structure may be operational in 2006-2007.

Between now and April 2006, Telefilm Canada and the CTF will each continue to administer their respective programs. Previously announced deadlines will remain the same.
