The Consulate of Canada in Anchorage, with support from community partners Petro-Canada, BP Exploration, TransCanada, Agrium, ConocoPhillips, Northern Dynasty and NANA/Colt Engineering, hosted its 2nd annual Canada Day Picnic & Celebration on June 27, 2006. More than 200 Canadians and friends of Canada attended. Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, Consul General Jeffrey Parker from the Canadian Consulate General in Seattle and Consul Karen Matthias from Anchorage delivered remarks highlighting strong Canada-U.S. relations in Alaska, including the Canadian Forces assigned to Elmendorf who help provide North American air defence through NORAD. |
