Community and Business Development (REDI)

Back

The Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) supports rural and northern community economic development activities. REDI is a fund derived entirely from revenues generated by video lottery terminals in rural and northern Manitoba. Funds are invested back into the economy to encourage economic development and diversification. These funds are designed to provide a boost to the economy while laying the foundation for sustained growth and development.
REDI supports a number of programs including: Feasibility Studies, Rural Entrepreneur Assistance, Community Works Loan Program, and Hometown Manitoba. In addition, the Division funds programs that support rural and northern youth which are administered by the Department of Education, Citizenship and Youth.

In addition to providing financial resources through REDI, Rural Initiatives staff provide advice, path finding and facilitation support to rural communities, entrepreneurs and cooperators in pursuing local economic development.
