Message from the Minister
I am pleased to have been appointed Minister of Human Resources and Social Development with responsibility for Service Canada. I look forward to working with Service Canada employees in improving the delivery of programs and services for you.
Like Canadians in all parts of the country, you count on the Government of Canada to be there for you, whether you are applying for a passport or a Social Insurance Number; receiving Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan or seniors' benefits; looking for a job or planning a career; or just looking for information about government programs and services.
These services and others are easily accessible to you through Service Canada's 320 offices, 1 800 O-Canada, and servicecanada.gc.ca. As well, we are committed to providing services in the communities where you live. With outreach and mobile services, Service Canada's representatives will travel to communities on a scheduled or periodic basis to reach areas that are under served, or in certain cases, visit urban centres to assist clients with special needs. In this way, Service Canada is transforming how government delivers its services to you by providing new ways of easily and quickly getting the services you need.
As we move forward, we will be accountable to Canadians by reporting regularly on our progress. We have a Service Charter that explains our service commitment. Shortly, we will unveil our Service Standards, which set out the level of service you can expect from us. We are committed to listening to you when you have suggestions for improvement.
