Welcome to the Canadian Forces Grievance Board Web site.
As Chairperson for the Board, it is my great pleasure to invite you to visit our website and learn about our organization's work.
In 1998, amendments to the National Defence Act were designed to modernize and strengthen the military justice system, which included the creation of the Canadian Forces Grievance Board. This made Canada the first country in the world to have a civilian body mandated to review military grievances. Since our start-up in 2000, we have come to recognize what a privilege it is to work in such a challenging area; it is our ultimate goal that the CF grievance process is one in which members can have complete confidence.
This past year saw an increase in our outreach to CF members, an improved closure rate on grievance cases, and on-going identification of systemic issues affecting the Canadian Forces. You can read more about the grievance cases that come to us, our Findings and Recommendations and the Chief of the Defence Staff decisions, in our regularly updated Case Summaries section.
I am most proud of our organization’s accomplishments. They are a solid testament that the Board is firmly on track towards making a difference in the military’s administrative justice system.
