APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
ASIA PACIFIC FOUNDATION OF CANADA
The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic
Canada Opportunities Agency, today announced the appointment of C. T. (Tung) Chan
to the Board of Directors of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.
“I am pleased to welcome Mr. Chan to the Foundation’s board,” said Minister MacKay.
“He has extensive business experience in Canadian and Asian interests, and has been
very involved in his community as well.”
The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is an independent, not-for-profit think tank on
Canada’s relations with Asia. The Foundation functions as a knowledge broker, bringing
together people and knowledge to provide the most current and comprehensive
research, analysis and information on Canada’s trans-Pacific relations. It promotes
dialogue on economic, security, political and social issues, helping to influence public
policy and foster informed decision making in the Canadian public, private and non-governmental sectors.
Created in 1984 by an act of Parliament, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is
funded by the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
C.T. (Tung) Chan, a native of Hong Kong, is CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., a large
immigration and social service agency in Vancouver. He holds a bachelor of arts
degree in sociology from the University of British Columbia and prior to joining
S.U.C.C.E.S.S had been involved in the banking industry for many years. He has
played a leading role in numerous community organizations and has served as a
Councillor in the City of Vancouver.
