Welcome to the Rural Dialogue!
We hope you will join in the discussions!

The Rural Dialogue listserv is a tool dedicated to citizens from rural and remote regions for the discussion of issues relating to rural Canada. This is the place where you can ask questions, share your thoughts and ideas, and build networks from Bonavista, Newfoundland to Old Crow, Yukon! Information shared on this listserv helps the federal government to better understand the issues, challenges and opportunities as well as to identify solutions or ways to address them.

Appropriate issues for discussion include, but are not limited to:
  • the key strengths of your community as you look to the future;
  • the biggest challenges that you, your family and your community face as you look to the future and what is preventing you and your community from overcoming these challenges;
  • what organizations, levels of government or others should be involved in working to overcome these challenges and how they should be involved;
  • what role you see specifically for the federal government in working with you to overcome these challenges;
  • how federal programs and services can better support your community’s needs (e.g. are there changes needed in the design, delivery, awareness or accessibility);
  • what is the best way for the federal government to continue to hear the views of rural people on an ongoing basis (e.g., meetings, surveys, polls, newsletters, advisory groups, the Internet, etc.); and
  • examples of a rural success story that you would like to share with others.

This listserv automatically distributes an e-mail message from one member on the list to all other members on the list.

When you subscribe to this list, your name and e-mail address is automatically added to the list. You will receive a letter of welcome (via e-mail) telling you about the list. From that time on, you will receive all mail (postings) sent to the list by its members. You may follow the discussions or join in on them. If you respond, you can send your response to the list (in which case, all members of the list will receive it), or to an individual on the list, if you have their e-mail address. Feel free to post in English or in French. You can sign off (unsubscribe) from the list at any time.

Audience

The Rural Dialogue is specifically aimed toward Canadians living in rural, remote and northern regions, but anyone is welcome to join the discussion.

POSTING POLICY - Terms and Conditions
Rural Dialogue On-line Discussion

In order to make our Rural Dialogue a welcoming and civil place for everyone, the following policy will govern all postings to the Rural Dialogue.

Your subscription to this discussion group means that you understand and accept the terms and conditions. If you chose not to accept these terms and conditions, do not subscribe. If these terms and conditions change in some way that you find unacceptable, you should unsubscribe.

We may revise these terms and conditions from time to time. They were last revised on August 30, 1999. The subscriber will be provided notice of any changes to these terms and conditions.

We reserve the right to terminate your subscription at any time for violation of this posting policy or Canadian law, or as we otherwise deem appropriate. We may discontinue the Rural Dialogue On-line Discussion at any time.
