Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Program

The Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization (CAIS) Program

The Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization (CAIS) program integrates stabilization and disaster protection into a single program, helping producers protect their farming operations from both small and large drops in income. The CAIS program is a whole-farm program available to eligible farmers regardless of the commodities they produce.

This Web site outlines how the CAIS program works.

December 31 is a date to remember:

  • Submit your 2005 harmonized form

    • Although the September 30 deadline has passed, forms will be accepted until December 31. However, any benefit you are entitled to will be reduced by $500 for each month (or each part of the month) late.

    • Forms received after this date will not be eligible for any benefit.

  • Pay your 2006 CAIS Fee

    • Fees paid after this date will have a 20% penalty added

    • You must pay your fee by April 30, 2007 or you will be ineligible to participate in CAIS for the 2006 and 2007 program years.

As December 31 falls on a Sunday, participants will have until January 2, 2007 to meet the deadline.
