Pension Regulation Division

The Pension Regulation Division administers and enforces the Pension Benefits Act. The Act applies to private sector and municipal government pension plans that have members in Nova Scotia.

To ensure that these plans are administered in accordance with the Act, the Division performs a number of functions, including the following:

If you need information about your pension benefits, please contact your pension plan administrator. The Division does not have any information related to your individual pension benefits.

Employees of the provincial government, teachers and federal public sector employees are covered by acts relevant to their particular pension plan. Information for members of the Nova Scotia provincial government and teachers pension plans is available on the Pension Services Group website.

Private sector employees working in federally regulated industries are covered by the Pension Benefits Standards Act which is administered federally by the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.
