***Note: The figures for "Humanitarian and compassionate grounds" have been adjusted since the publication of the Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration as the manner in which final numbers for these cases are calculated has been further refined for increased accuracy. This newer method has been applied to previous years, resulting in a modification of these numbers. As a result, numbers reported for certain categories of immigrants in Facts and Figures 2003: Immigration Overview - Permanent and Temporary Residents have been revised in this edition.
